3 Simple Lifestyle Changes You Can Make To Your Life

Already feeling like the new year has got off to a bad start? It's time to change your life by changing your habits and make this your best year yet!


There are a number of small lifestyle changes you can make to your daily habits in order to improve your health, energy levels and happiness- and NOW is the time to try them!


1. GET ENOUGH SLEEP!


Although waking up early to exercise can feel great (especially as it means that the rest of the day is now yours- plus, you feel super smug..) if your early morning jolt means that you miss out on sleep, you can end up feeling worse rather than better. Try and aim to get between 7-9 hours of sleep every night. Getting enough sleep has been shown to reduce risk of obesity, improve mood, reduce stress and increase energy levels.


2. Water water, drink more water!


It can't be emphasised enough how important it is to stay hydrated, and what a better way to do it than by drinking water! Water is a free and healthy choice for quenching your thirst and it contains no calories and no sugar (your teeth will thank you later).


Aim to drink between 6-8 glasses of water each day. If you don't like plain water, why not try adding slices of fruit to it? Remember- a cup of tea (or 3) counts!


3. I like to move it, move it...


Yes, yes, I know, I know- it's another post about exercise....


I am sure you have read a million articles that talk about the health benefits of daily physical activity. However, some research suggests that exercise’s benefits are negated by prolonged periods of sitting.


What does this mean for me? Well, you should aim to try and move THROUGHOUT the day as MUCH as possible- and not just for that hour spent 'killing it' in the gym.


If you work in an office, why not try taking the stairs, get outside and walk during your lunch break or simply take a short walk around the office each hour. Even doing some stretches sitting at your desk is better than not moving at all!
